The Right Fit
The only decision about purchasing a website is the price. Right? Maybe you think that one website is the same as the other? Perhaps you have thought, "Why do website vendors charge different prices? That seems slightly crazy!" However, one size does not fit all when buying a website for your business. The size of your business, the goal of the website and the type of products and services you want to offer on your website will determine the level of website that best fits your company's needs. Choosing a website is similar to a family's selection of a casket. A casket is a casket, some may think. Many people do not know there is a difference between the type of wood, steel and gauges. However, soon they come to understand there are options suited to their values, wishes and pricing.
To help understand the various levels of websites that are available for businesses, Beyond Indigo has developed a website diagram. This pyramid is a design to help explain the places where a funeral business can fit into the web realm. This pyramid illustrates six different levels that range from "no web presence" to a "family and consumer-based web business" to a "larger business and association level". In addition, notice that on the one side is a sliding scale that talks about the range of customization and on the other side is a sliding scale that talks about the range of concentration from "focus on the business" to "focus on the family/customer". Owners of funeral homes can begin their web presence at any level of the pyramid or they can start at one level and switch to another level as their business changes and grows.
